Redzone, led by GM Red, are a Garage Division team that entered the GFL as a part of one of our original 6 GM's in GFL Year 1. They came in looking like the one of the most experienced GM's, finishing the regular season with a league best record of 11-2, winning the Garage Division, and entering the playoffs vs GM Gary in Round 1 (2 Week Playoff Match-Ups). GM Red & squad weren't able to keep the dominance going and fell to GM Gary by a score of 269.80-239.10.
A lackluster ending to a fantastic first season with the GFL led GM Red to GFL Year 2, the 8 team expansion year. GM Red & the new redraft squad were able to once again win the Garage Division, finishing with a record of 8-5 and obtaining a 1st Round BYE this time around. GM Red also took home the GFL Year 2 GM Of The Year award at the Award show. In the second round of the Playoffs, coming off the BYE, GM Red would face off against eventual Champion GM Squid (5-8) and fall just short by a score of 177.28-172.58.
Now a proven force in the regular season and an unfortunate 0-2 playoff record, GM Red would enter GFL Year 3 looking to retain the Garage Division Championship once again and rack up a playoff win or 2. That did not happen, as GM Red & the new squad would finish the regular season with a league worst record of 3-10, missing the playoffs for the 1st time, and entering their 1st Poo Bowl where they'd face off against the GM that beat them in the playoffs back in Year 1 - GM Gary (5-8). GM Red would lose this game as well by a score of 154.80-144.34 and becoming the leagues 3rd ever Poo Boy.
The first bump in GM Red's journey to the Championship, they would return for GFL Year 4 - the final redraft year & the 10 team expansion - and return to true form, finishing the regular season with a record of 8-6 and reacquiring the Garage Division title. Coming off the 1st Round BYE, GM Red would look to secure their first playoff success facing off against GM Crumbs (7-7) in the 2nd Round, and they did, winning by a score of 153.60-128.44. Just like that, GM Red & team would finally head to their 1st Championship Game - facing off against GM Gabe (9-5) - the Basement Division Champion. In what is now regarded as the best Championship Game in GFL History, GM Red would fall just short in their quest for glory, losing to GM Gabe by a score of 169.72-168.10.
With 3 Division Titles to his name, a GM Of The Year Trophy, a Poo Boy season, and more, GM Red would return for GFL Year 5 - GFL Dynasty - unveiling the official team identity of Redzone. With a solid start-up draft under their belt, GM Red & Redzone would nearly win their 4th Division Championship but fall short 1 game, finishing the season with a record of 9-5. Redzone entered the 1st Round of the Playoffs facing GM Rich & The Golden Rings (9-5) and would lose by a score 154.94-134.18. Following the GFL 5 Championship Game, GM Red would begin to undergo a total rebuild, selling off plenty of top talent in favor of future draft picks.
Redzone entered GFL Year 6 with a plethora of young talent, headlined by picks 6, 7 & 8 (CJ Stroud, JSN, QJ), ready to make their mark on the GFL landscape. Unfortunately, the only real mark they made was a skidmark. Here's a list of their GFL6 accolades: tied for worst regular season win %, lowest points for of the dynasty era, and most losses to start a season. They finished 3-11 and went on to stink of the league's very first DROUGHT BOWL, leading to their crowing as the GFL's first official "LOSSMAN."
Redzone fans are always treated to commercial free football when they make the trip to see the boys in red play at home at Redzone Studio. Located in Baton Rouge, LA, Redzone shocked the GFL world when they unveiled their unique WWE style football field. Sexy custom red turf, a raised playing surface, and overhead studio lights. They've even got Scott Hanson working the PA system. Just try not to get lost when you take a bathroom break, it's dark in here.
