Coxsackie Calves, currently led by GM Gabe & AGM Cheeseman, is a Basement division team that made their GFL debut in GFL Year 4 as part of GFL's expansion to 10 teams. GM Gabe spent GFL Year 3 as the assistant GM for GM Medium of 4th & Medium and was the 1st GM to be offered a contract for the upcoming expansion, at the GFL Year 3 Award Show.
Signed on officially for GFL Year 4, GM Gabe & BTU made their mark in The Basement division, winning 9 out of 14 games and securing the Division Title in their first full season. GM Gabe & the squad were able to take that division winning momentum into the playoffs - coasting through the 1st Round BYE - leading to a Round 2 victory over fellow 1st year GM Ryan & Rickety Stool Co. by a score of 145.10-129.62. GM Gabe had successfully made it to the Championship Game, representing the Basement Division, in their 1st full year as an active GM. Led by Championship MVP RB Rashaad Penny, GM Gabe & BTU were able to take down Garage Division Champion Redzone by a score of 169.72-168.10 and take home the GFL 4 Championship. That championship game is highly regarded & was a wild back & forth battle between the best 2 teams in the league at the time.
Following the stellar Championship season in Year 4, GM Gabe returned for his 2nd full season as the GFL entered their transition to the Dynasty format. Shortly before the Start-Up Draft took place, GM Gabe announced he'd be hiring an official assistant GM to help out moving forward for Between The Uprights. Former GFL GM (Years 2 & 3) Cheeseman was the man hired for the job and helped move things along at the Start-Up draft and still remains with the team. With the help of eventual Rookie Of The Year winner WR Garrett Wilson and the rest of BTU, the team was able to finish the season with a record of 8-5 and nearly retain the Basement Division title, falling just short by 1 game. Even with no 1st Round BYE this time around, BTU was able to take down the Tuckahoe Turtles in Round 1 of the Playoffs by a score of 169.64-157.50 and advance to their 2nd straight Conference Final. Their opponent was Division Champion Hail Gary who was coming off the 1st Round BYE. It was then that Between The Uprights were unable to return to the Championship game, losing to GM Gary & team by a score of 192.02-153.10.
GFL6 quickly became a year to forget for BTU. After trading the 2023 1.07 for Nick Chubb, Gabe only got a game and a half out of the elite RB before he suffered a potentially career altering injury. The snowball effect went into full swing as BTU suffered countless injuries preventing them from ever truly getting their footing. They did their best to stay in the race, even trading away two 1st round picks during the season to keep up, not it was to no avail. BTU finished the season 6-8, missing the playoffs for the first time in franchise history. They managed to win out of the GFL's first LOSSMAN Bracket with ease, and will hope to navigate their way back to the top of the Basement starting in GFL7. At the GFL 7 Draft, GM Gabe announced the team would be rebranding from Between The Uprights to the Coxsackie Calves.
After relocating from bustling Buffalo, NY to the small town of Coxsackie, the newly branded Calves engrained themselves in the local community with a unique, state-of-the-art, multi-purpose stadium. The main highlight of the new build is an entire section with free to use workout equipment, perfect for a township focused on fitness. Every Sunday is leg day at the Coxsackie Gardens, feel the burn as those Calves heat up on the field and in the stands.
