#1 - Rickety Stool Co.
(4-1) | [--]
Now that we've established The Stool Co. is back, I think it's time to ask, is this team BETTER than they were before? Another week as a top scorer, a different 3 headed Hydra of receivers with other crazy complementary pieces, and a core of young stud RBs that all look primed for long careers as workhorses. Emeka Egbuka continues to look like the truth and I think he's allergic to not finding the endzone. Quinshon Judkins had a long TD run called back this week and still had a solid performance, with a rookie QB at the helm. Even Tyler Warren looks like a foundational piece. They can't keep getting away with this. The Stool Co. will be taking on another 4-1 team in week 6 in The Coxsackie Calves in what should be a great matchup to keep an eye on.
#2 - Golden Bills
(4-1) | [--]
The Golden Bills march to the beat of their own drum. The real life Bills lost but these guys still found a way to beat division rival Redzone to improve to 4-1 on the young season. Even without much from James Cook this squad COOKED. Jonathan Taylor is looking like the 1st round startup pick he was a few years ago yet again. The Lions offense has not been skipping a beat either. Both Goff and Monty have been mostly reliable and it has helped the Bills core tremendously to have another great offense in their ranks. In terms of Bills though, I am starting to worry about Keon Coleman truly taking that next step. He gets no separation and does not profile as a reliable target consistently. Hopefully he proves me wrong as I am just a measly GFL reporter that loves attending Bills games. The Golden Bills look to continue their solid start to the season against The Orangeville Ducks in week 6.
#3 - Redzone
(2-3) | [--]
It looked like the young core of Redzone had turned a corner early this season when they were putting up big number weeks. The last few have left a bit more to be desired though. Even getting some decent weeks and highlights from MHJ he has not been the surefire thing he looked like coming out of college. Brock Bowers had been playing through an injury but sat this week. He did not look the same with that brace on while playing though. Getting him back fully healthy should help, and I'm sure GM Red is hoping to see it soon. The RBs which were thought to be a weak point of this team honestly had a great week, but it was the 2 lowest scorers in the Redzone lineup. Chase Brown has been mid without Burrow and Jordan Mason had a score but that was about it while Bill and Rhamondre had great fantasy weeks off the bench. This team should still be the favorite to be the 3rd team in the playoff picture in the Garage in my opinion, but man those Lobsters are coming up on you quick. Redzone looks to get back on track against the tough Tuckahoe Turtles next week.
#4 - Sloppiest Lobsters
(1-4) | [--]
Hey congrats, you took that little kid's candy and started whipping him with the licorice. With their first win of the season under their belt The Sloppiest Lobsters are hoping this is the start of getting back on track. No Lamar this week or next after the big trade and it couldn't have come at a better time. Playing a D2 rag tag team the next 2 weeks should be the get right this team needs. With that being said, I am interested to see how their lack of depth post Lamar trade pans out when they aren't playing such a plus matchup. As bye weeks hit this team needs Aiyuk and Mixon back with no return in sight for either. This is still a solid squad but like I said I am interested to see things play out for them. As I touched on before The Lobsters will take on Supreme Court for the 2nd time in 2 weeks as they take their final free win of the season and hope it kick starts a comeback.
#5 - Supreme Court
(0-5) | [--]
Supreme Court set a full lineup for the first time in weeks and it resulted in one of their lower totals so far on the young season. That's with known stud A.J. Barner having 2 TDs on the week and almost 25 fantasy points. Bryce Young and Spencer Rattler were serviceable fantasy wise and continue to be basically the only guys producing points on this squad. With the way they have played I honestly think Rattler has a better shot at starting next year than Bryce Young. Whether that is a good or a bad thing for these guys I do not know. There's not a whole ton to be excited about besides those QBs and those draft picks, but they knew that coming into the year. Continue playing the wire and hope to find some value, and this team will be looking good in due time. Wishing you the best of luck in getting that first win in the GFL against GM Sloppo and The Sloppy Lobsters week 6.
#1 - Coxsackie Calves
(4-1) | [+2]
Wow these cats are cookin! Er, uh, i mean calves. They nab up their second win in a row, while also putting up 180+ in both of those games. The QB duo of Indiana Jones and Tua has been better than expected during that span, but make no mistake bout it folks these guys are firin on all cylinders. Ashton Jeanty is here and operating, at least in terms of points, as RB2 behind Javonte Williams who continues to have a career year for himself. RB3 on the season with 20.70 PPG, insane. I bet those GMs that gave up on him gotta miss the guy. Garrett Wilson continues shining with the chemistry between him and Justin Fields, and Jaylen Waddle looked great as well. Hell, if QJ had one of his 20+ point outbursts these guys coulda put up a 200 bomb! Imagine when they get CeeDee Lamb back, jeez man. For now, they sit atop the basement and look to keep things rollin in week 6 vs fellow division leader, RSC.
#2 - 4th and Medium
(3-2) | [-1]
Unfortunately after taking down the GFL 7 champs, 4th and Decks were unable to get the win vs the GFL 5 champ, Hail Gary. It came down to Monday Night Football, but Gary had too much skin in the game for this squad to hold off. Sure the injuries to Bucky and Nabers didn't help things, but Bijan and Rome Odunze were also on their BYE last week, and without those 4 heavy hitters the team still put up almost 160. I've said it before, but the depth this team has combined with their heavy hitters is what keeps them such a treat to the league. Factoring in the production of Bijan and Rome this week they stand a much better chance at taking down Hail Gary in the second game of their back to back series, and once Bucky Irving come back this team will be even more in shape. Just a little bump in the road is all, nothin to see here.
#3 - Tuckahoe Turtles
(3-2) | [-1]
The Tuckahoe Turtles got the win in week 4 with just 156 points, but 165 in week 5 was not nearly enough to withstand the stomping of the Calves and their 183.72 points scored. They were about an AJ Brown TD and a full Spencer Shrader game away from potentially flippin the script, but it just wasnt in the cards this time. The Tuckahoe Turtles still are 3rd in the league in scoring however, boasting a 822.08 point total, a silver lining indeed my friends. Baker having another fantastic year at QB3 leads the way for these cats, while Gibbs and Achane handle the rest of the heavy lifting most weeks. I mean really, if just AJ Brown or Ladd McConkey can return to their form from last season these guys would probably be back to their 200 bombs and such. The season is still young however, and they look to right the ship vs a Redzone team that just can't seem to get things rollin.
#4 - Hail Gary
(3-2) | [--]
The kicking troubles still persist, as Hail Gary can't seem to find a kicker that is willing to score 10+ for him. Ultimately though that didn't matter much, as they got the win this week on the backs of 4 players in MNF that combined for 77.16, enough to edge out the victory vs division rival 4th and Decks. It felt reminiscent of the Gary squad that won the championship with the QB duo of Mahomes and Lawrence doing the dirty work, and now with CMC instead of CeeDee Lamb to help them. DeVonta Smith ad Calvin Ridley had good games this week but have had their share of down weeks as well. Long term this squad feels like it needs the supporting cast of starters to be more consistent in order to do long term damage over the rest of the season. Whether they stand with what they have and let it play out, or go use one of their first or second round picks they have a good amount of, well that's for the man in the throne to decide.
#5 - Orangeville Ducks
(1-4) | [--]
After their win in week 4, the Orangeville Ducks came up just shy of slaying the Rickety Stool Co. dragon and getting their second win in a row. They had the firepower to get it done too, had they started Tory Horton and Theo Johnson instead of Troy Franklin and Tyjae Spears, they'd have put up 187.96 points, just enough to beat out the company. Even with DK and Kraft YAC and Cheese on a bye, and without Terry McLaurin, they still could've had enough juice for the dub, which in this guy's opinion is a small dub in itself. New Duck QB Dak Prescott had his second straight 30 point game while on his new squad, and getting Rico Dowdle as a handcuff to new RB Chuba Hubbard proved to be a smart move as well if Chuba has to miss any more time with his injury. Similarly to the Lobsters, I just don't think 1-4 tells the whole story here. After all, these cats were in a similar spot record wise when they won it all in GFL 6. Still way too early to count these guys out.
