GET UP GFL FANS! The magnificent desolation of the offseason shall not be long lasting here in the GFL, as the GFLDynasty.com staff is proud to unveil our first Write-Up of the GFL8 offseason along with our annual site reskin to fit this year's theme; GFL Infinity.
It's no secret that with the draft out of the way we are about to enter the second lull of the NFL offseason as team's gear up for training camp and the coming season, so while Roger freezes in the vacuum of space, Planet GFL keeps on revolving. We've got plenty of content for you yet to come this summer, starting with our Schedule Reveal. Teams and fans alike can now start marking those calendars up with travel plans and key dates, starting with a countdown to our Week 1 Championship Rematch to kickoff the season. T-minus 67 days until gametime.
When it comes to our schedule, please keep in mind that multiple unique schedules fitting the GFL's specific criteria are crafted very early in the offseason (we're talking January, folks) in order to ensure the process is fully unbiased. Pros and cons of each schedule option are then weighed by the GFL Council, before a final determination was made for the official GFL8 schedule. This entire process is completed long before the NFL schedule reveal, so GMs can rest assured there is no funny business when it comes to BYE-pocalypse's and things of that nature. Our GFL8 Schedule is here, so let's take a look at this season's Theme Weeks.

Week 1 - Championship Rematch
We usually try to pack as many postseason rematches as we can into Week 1, or at least a DROUGHT BOWL rematch, but the way the schedule fell this season has only our GFL7 Finals foes facing off front and center.

Week 4 - Dynasty Struggle Week
After making its Theme Week debut last year thanks to a suggestion from former GM Crumbs, Struggle Weeks will be making its return with a slight rebrand. With a new GM amongst the ranks there is an obvious lack of history, so they'll be inheriting the Stuffers struggles as franchises will be matched up based on their head-to-head records in the Dynasty Era. Let's take a look at those numbers:

Week 7 - Rivalry Week
Our original Theme Week is back and better than ever. This one has it all; new beef, old beef, a Back-2-Back, and a PRIMETIME headliner with deep roots and big names out for revenge. Lock in or lose out.

Week 9 - Cross-Division War
Its a beautiful thing, really, seeing the divisions set aside their rivalries and playoff races and band together for GFL bragging rights. Sure, its just a one week reprieve before they're back at each others throats, but its nice to see our GMs come together for a common goal. It's almost like a big league-wide Rivalry Week, and that's aided by this year's PRIMETIME matchup that feels like it belongs in Week 7 itself.

Houston, we have Back-2-backs

Aside from our Theme Weeks, most of you should be accustomed to the GFL's additional unique schedule quirks. Imagine going back to facing each team in order one by one. Gives me the heebie-jeebies, shoutout Tony for the lingo. Anyway, lets take a look at what jumps out in GFL8.

Let's start with our Back-2-Backs, which made their debut last year in GFL7 to an overwhelmingly positive reception. While the Basement Division missed out on the fun last season, we made sure to get them involved in GFL8. Here's the 3 B2B's, keep an eye out for one of each matchup in PRIMETIME:

Week 5 & 6
Hail Gary vs 4th and Medium
Sloppiest Lobsters vs Supreme Court

Week 7 & 8
The Golden Rings vs Rickety Stool Co.

Speaking of PRIMETIME, lets take a look at who's dominating the premiere time slot this season. It should come as no surprise that the team set to lead the league in PRIMETIME appearances is our CHAMPIONS The Golden Rings with four (4) island games. Also with four (4) games under the bright lights is the team who passed the belt on to them; the Orangeville Ducks. Nearly every other franchise will make three (3) appearances on the big stage, however a few teams may be expected to make the leap before getting more spotlight. Both Redzone and the Coxsackie Calves are set to make two (2) PRIMETIME appearances as they both look to close the book on "rebuilder" status and enter true contention. And we can't forget Supreme Court who is set to play their only PRIMETIME game in Week 5, and you can't really blame the schedule makers after seeing that team's initial projections.
